Searching for the Pitsis from Xios. Yasso pedia, I am a 30 year old male Pitsis born in Sydney, Australia. I am looking for as many Pitsis's as possible so I can trace my family history. My father was Gerasimo Pitsis (b.Cairo, Egypt 1921 d.Sydney, Australia 1991) and my grand parents were Irini and Anastasios Pitsis. They lived in Egypt after the Pitsis family fled the Turks in Chios in the 1800s. The only other thing I know is that my father had several brothers and sisters (including Margieta, Lefterry, Melissa...?) who moved to Australia. Others moved to England, France, USA and some stayed in Xios and Rhodos. Any help will be greatly appreciated. HOpefully I can return the favour.

chios is my home away from home, i am from vrontados, my first time i was their was in 1980, but in 1994 when i went again i learned so much about who i really am and why i am standing here today. i am very proud to be greek and suggest to everyone if you ever have a chance to go i highly recommend it... yasou!!!!

THIS INDISCRIMINATE SLAUGHTER OF SMALL BIRDS IS ILLEGAL THROUGHOUT THE EUROPEAN UNION, OF WHICH GREECE IS A MEMBER. As mentioned before we are going to be in Chios this Easter (from 7.april - 21. april). I understand this has been a mild winter. Does this mean that we can expect more than average temps. in April too? I'm starting to think about what to pack. Don't want to drag along heaps of warm clothing if we won't need them. I appreciate any advice you can give, although predicting the weather 3 weeks ahead is difficult.

About the trapping of the birds.... This is something that has been going on many years, it started back when the people didn't have much to eat. They made the glue sticks from different things they found in nature. The birds were then either cooked and eaten by the trapper or sold to be eaten by someone else. They even sold the song birds alive, canaries, etc. I don't think there is much difference with that and hunting wild turkey or deer.

About the trapping of birds... People have to eat, don't they? Food doesn't grow in the supermarkeds nomatter how convenient it would be to think so....

Hello to everyone at Chios. I love Chios and can't wait to return. The beaches are the best, the water the bluest, the people are great and the food, wonderful. I especially liked the fish at Lithi, straight from the fisherman. The view at the port at Langada was very relaxing. I will always enjoy the "Perivoli" in Kambos.
